PAVEMENT, PROVEN DAILY.

Corridors, interchanges and paving trains tracked lane-kilometre by lane-kilometre. One flight before the shift and one after it: the day's quantities, the day's lifts and the day's chainage are on the record before the crew is off site.

FLY THE CORRIDOR.

Four and a half kilometres of live national highway in one governed pass — under the village underpass, down the planted median, along the service roads and onto a sixteen-lane toll plaza — then the operator walks the island and logs every piece of lane equipment on it. Nobody closed a lane.

  1. 01

The corridor moves a kilometre a week and the earthworks quantity is still a survey crew's Thursday. By the time the volume is agreed, the material it describes is under 300 mm of subbase.

Quantities before the crew is off site

One dawn flight over the live corridor returns the surface, differences it against yesterday's and against design, and posts cut, fill and stockpile volumes by chainage band — 34 km in a single mission, ±1.6 % on the stockpile.

  2. 02

A paving train lays 900 m of binder course in a shift. Thickness, mat temperature and joint checks live in three different notebooks, and the only chance to argue about lift 2 is before lift 3 covers it.

Every lift signed before the next one buries it

Hold points sit on the chainage rather than on a form: the checkpoint opens when the paver enters the lot, takes the cores, the temperatures and the photographs, and will not close the lot without them.

  3. 03

The monthly claim says 4.2 lane-kilometres of wearing course. The client's engineer says 3.8. Nobody has a picture of the corridor taken on the last day of the month.

    Lane-kilometres paid as built

Each claim line is tied to the capture that proves it — the chainage band, the date of the flight, the lift record underneath — so the certifier reads the evidence beside the number instead of driving out to count it. The same measured lines fill the monthly return where a corridor also reports to a highway authority, which is how NHAI reporting comes off the record the claim already stands on.

The capture program

The program runs at the paving train's speed. Two flights bracket the shift, the train reports as it lays, and every lot is proven before the next lift covers it — with traffic running the whole time.

  1. 01

    Dock flight

2×/day, before the shift and after it

The dawn flight covers the corridor in one mission and lands as a surface, differenced against yesterday's and against design. Cut, fill and stockpile volumes post by chainage band at ±1.6 % before the crew is off site.

  2. 02

    Paving telemetry

Continuous while the train lays, off the paver

The front's chainage, the mat temperature and the roller passes land on the same record as the morning surface. The lot's evidence accrues as it is laid, not at the end of the week.

    Lot checkpoint

Every lot, opened when the paver enters it

Hold points sit on the chainage, not on a form. The checkpoint takes the cores, the temperatures and the photographs, and will not close the lot without them — so lift 2 is signed before lift 3 buries it.

    Profiler run

Behind the finish roller, on the wearing course

Ride is measured as the wearing course lands, lane by lane against the same chainage rail. Smoothness is a number on the record from the first kilometre, not a dispute at handover.

Ask the record

  1. Q01

Do we close a lane to fly it?

No. The corridor is flown above live traffic — 34 km in a single dawn mission, eleven lines, no traffic management and no crew on the carriageway. The second flight after the shift closes the day.

    FLIGHT · 34KM · 0 CLOSURES
  2. Q02

How is a lift proven before the next one buries it?

The lot checkpoint opens when the paver enters it and closes only with its cores, temperatures and photographs. One hundred percent of lifts carry their evidence before the following pass covers them.

    LIFTS VERIFIED 100% · LOT 118
  3. Q03

What happens when the surface is wrong?

It gets caught the same morning. The 05:40 flight is differenced by 06:18, the subbase reads 40 mm short at CH 28+400, the train holds at 27+900 by 06:35 — and lot 118 is retested, signed and under binder by 09:10.

    CAUGHT 06:18 · SIGNED 09:10
  4. Q04

Whose number wins at the monthly claim?

The capture's. Each claim line carries the chainage band, the date of the flight and the lift record underneath it — the week-34 claim holds 4.2 lane-kilometres of wearing course, and the certifier reads the evidence beside the number.

    CLAIM WK-34 · 4.2 LANE-KM
  5. Q05

Can the record keep pace with three courses at once?

The paving record runs all three fronts on one rail: base at 33.0 km, binder at 29.9 km, surface at 25.8 km — each read to the day against the 34 km corridor, so the gap between courses is a figure, not a feeling.

    BASE 33.0KM · BINDER 29.9KM · SURFACE 25.8KM
  6. Q06

What holds the survey over 34 kilometres?

Control diamonds on the verge — marks 04 through 06 — checked every flight, holding ±1.2 cm at 1.6 cm detail on the ground. The surface repeats flight to flight; control is laid once, not rebuilt.

    FIX ±1.2CM · 1.6CM
  7. Q07

And once it is open — how is condition read along the route?

Per chainage, and dated. The corridor is captured on the same eleven lines after opening as during the build, so a length at CH 28+400 is read against its own earlier surfaces rather than against somebody's recollection of last winter. Deterioration arrives as a trend on a dated record, and the maintenance year is planned rather than discovered.
