Lifts, spillways and instrumentation on one auditable record. Every layer of fill is surveyed before the next one covers it, every hold point is signed against the survey that closed it, and the piezometers are read on the same round.
The sheet above is a drawing of this. 12 capture waypoints, and every finding called as the aircraft reaches it — scroll sets the target, the mission keeps its own pace, and the page waits for it.

SEVENTEEN GATES, ONE RECORD.
A river barrage read bay by bay — gate seals, a live spillway release at 1,350 m³/s, twenty-four piezometers and the crest walked between the piers — on one auditable record, flown before the morning gate log is due.

A zoned embankment is only auditable while it is visible. Once lift 214 is covered by 215, what was placed, where the zone boundary ran and how thick it went is whatever the survey book says it was.
Every lift, surveyed before it is buried
Each lift is surfaced before the next one starts: volume placed by zone against design to ±1.2%, boundaries traced on the surface, thickness readable anywhere on the fill. The dam stays auditable at every layer, years later.

Releasing a lift is a signature on a form, and the form says the surface was proof-rolled and the moisture was in band. Six years later a review board asks what that signature was actually looking at.
Hold points signed on evidence
Every hold point carries the capture that closed it. Test results, the lift survey and the frames sit on the same gate, so releasing lift 215 is an evidenced act rather than a remembered one.

Sixty-eight piezometers, inclinometers and settlement plates, read by different people on different days into different spreadsheets. The week that matters is the week somebody was on leave.
Instrumentation on the same round
The instrument round runs as a structured template — reading, photograph and location on one entry — and lands beside the capture from the same day, so a pore-pressure trend can be read against the fill that caused it.

The capture program
The program runs on the embankment's clock — the roller stops, the lift closes, the next one buries it. Everything here is surfaced before it disappears, because afterwards there is no second look.

Crest orbit
Every lift, between roller and release
Lift 214 closed at 16:40 and was flown at 16:58 — eighteen minutes after the roller stopped. Volume placed by zone reads against design, and the zone 2A boundary is traced on the surface before lift 215 covers it.

The downstream face is flown top to toe past both berms. Slope and berm level read against the design profile, and the face above the toe drain is on the record every pass.

Instrument round
Weekly, on the same round as the capture
Reading, photograph and location land as one entry, beside the capture from the same day. The observed phreatic surface plots from the piezometer tips, and the toe drain's 4.2 L/s has the lift history under it.
Test results, the lift survey and the frames sit on one gate. Lift 215 was released at 17:12 — thirty-two minutes after the roller stopped — as an evidenced act, not a remembered one.

Lift 180 is under the fill — can you still show it to me?
Yes. Every lift was surfaced before the next one covered it: volume by zone, boundary traces, thickness readable anywhere on the fill. The dam stays auditable at every one of its 214 layers, years after they disappeared.

Q02
Does the survey slow the placing?
The roller stopped at 16:40, the lift flew at 16:58 and the hold point was signed at 17:12 — thirty-two minutes from closed to released. Placing never waits on a level crew walking the fill.

Q03
What is behind the signature on a hold point?
The capture that closed it. Twelve gates per lift carry the test results, the lift survey and the frames on the same record, so a review board opens evidence instead of asking what a signature was looking at.
One templated round covers all 68 — reading, photograph and location on a single entry, filed beside the same day's capture. A pore-pressure trend is read against the fill that caused it, not against a spreadsheet from another week.
On the survey. Placed volume by zone reconciles against design to ±1.2% — lift 214 read 1,480 m³ at +0.9% on design — so every cubic metre on the certificate carries the flight behind it.
The reservoir rises against the dam as built, not as designed. Full supply is EL +54.00 m, the phreatic surface plots where the piezometer tips say it is, and the toe drain's 4.2 L/s is a trend with the lift history under it.

Who reads it
Read overnight on an embankment like this one: the lift flight, twelve hold-point gates, 68 instrument readings and the zone sections at their current revision. Three of the 27 profiles wake up to it.
Lift 214 closed at 16:40, flew at 16:58 and read 1,480 m³ at +0.9% on design — lift 215 is released, so zone 2A spreads at first light with the gate already signed.

Send us the lift schedule and the zone sections — we will fly one lift between roller and release and hand you the surface, the volumes by zone and the gate it closes.
