Bulk digs, basements and trenches measured against design every single day. The surface is flown before the first bucket, the cut is quantified before the trucks are paid, and the formation is caught before anyone digs past it.
The sheet above is a drawing of this. 10 capture waypoints, and every finding called as the aircraft reaches it — scroll sets the target, the mission keeps its own pace, and the page waits for it.

Overdig is invisible until the concrete bill arrives. A formation 60 mm low across 240 m² is a lorry of lean mix nobody quoted for, and it is under blinding by the time anybody notices.
Dug to the line, not past it
The dig surface is differenced against the design box every day at a 5 cm grid. Anything below the line is flagged as an area and a depth on the shift it happened, while the machine is still standing on it.
Props, walings and sheet-pile toes get checked when the temporary works engineer is on site, which is Tuesdays. What the box does on Thursday afternoon is a phone call from a foreman.
Shoring watched between inspections
Every capture carries the shoring with it. A prop out of line, a lifted strut plate or a berm cut early is raised off the frame, assigned to a name and closed on the record — mean time to close 4.1 hours.
The haulier invoices 412 loads. The site diary says 380-something. Neither number has anything behind it, so the difference gets split and the job swallows it.
Muck-away paid on the hole
The volume out of the box is measured rather than counted: this week's surface against last week's, converted at the density on the ticket. The claim is paid against the hole that is actually gone.
The program runs on the box's own clock — the first bucket, the stage change, the haulier's claim. The hole is measured every working day, and nothing on this list stands a machine down.

Dig flight
Daily at 07:05, before the first bucket
Three passes over box B before the shift digs. The surface is differenced against the design box at a 5 cm grid, so anything below the line is an area and a depth on the day it happened.
A scanner on the formation catches what the flight cannot see — under the struts, in the lift pit below formation — before 50 mm of blinding covers what was cut.

Wall monitoring round
With every capture, between the Tuesday inspections
The walls ride every capture. INC-03 plots deflection against the dig stage — 18 mm at stage 4 — and the dewatering well's 12 L/s lands on the same record as the day's surface.

The dig surface is differenced against the design box at a 5 cm grid every working day. Overdig on box B stands at 0.4% — and when the formation went 60 mm low over 240 m², it was flagged at 11:40, while the machine was still standing on it.
No. The surface is flown at 07:05, before the first bucket, and the numbers land while the shift works. The morning the low spot was flagged, the dig moved at 11:52 — twelve minutes, not a stood-down machine.

Q03
What do we pay the haulier?
The measured hole. The volume out of the box is this week's surface against last week's, converted at the density on the ticket — 84,000 m³ to date carries a survey behind it, so the claim is settled instead of split.

Q04
Who watches the shoring between inspections?
Every capture does. A prop out of line, a lifted strut plate or a berm cut early is raised off the frame, assigned to a name and closed at a 4.1-hour mean — and INC-03's 18 mm of wall movement is plotted against the stage, not discovered on Tuesday.

Q05
Can you see the bench and the lift pit, or just the big hole?
The record reads anywhere on the surface. The bench against the west wall carries 205 m³ still to trim, the lift pit sits below formation at stage 4 of 6, and both are measured on the same 5 cm grid as the rest of the box.

Q06
What does the record show once the blinding goes down?
The formation as it was struck. The floor is captured before 50 mm of blinding covers it, so what is under the slab is a surface on the record — not a memory defended two years later.

Who reads it
Read overnight on a box like this one: the daily dig flight, the formation scans, the wall round and the haulier's tickets against the measured surface. Three of the 27 profiles wake up to it.
Formation at prop level 2 read 60 mm low over 240 m² — the dig moved at 11:52, nobody ordered lean mix, and today's 07:05 flight reads the fix before the first bucket.

TODAY
Night shift cut 3,120 m³ and 41 loads left the gate. The bench on the west wall still carries 205 m³ to trim, and the machine stays in the lift pit until it is called off.

The walls are read with every capture: INC-03 tops out at 18 mm against the stage, DW-06 holds 12 L/s, and anything seen on a frame is assigned by name with a 4.1-hour mean close.
